Crate Stacking
Petty Pool
Take it in turns to balance on a crate stack – built by your friends just for you! As the stack grows higher, so does the challenge… until gravity eventually wins and the crates come tumbling down.
Sometimes that happens by accident, and sometimes because you couldn’t resist giving it a dramatic kick to hear the crash! Don’t worry - everyone wears a helmet, and participants are also safely attached to a rope system throughout the activity.
Ready to grow outdoors?
Crate stacking is a brilliant team-based challenge that relies heavily on communication, cooperation and trust. Participants rotate roles as climber, builder and belayer, giving everyone a chance to experience different responsibilities.
The ground team must design and construct a stable crate tower while working together effectively under pressure. This develops planning skills, problem-solving and the ability to listen carefully and act on instructions.
For climbers, trust is key – relying on teammates who are managing the rope system safely while supporting each attempt to go higher. This helps build confidence, resilience and a willingness to push personal boundaries in a controlled environment.
Throughout the activity, emotional awareness and teamwork are developed as participants learn to take turns, support others and manage excitement and challenge in a positive way.
Crate stacking is also a great introduction to rope-based activities, helping participants build confidence and familiarity with techniques used in climbing wall sessions and our Leap of Faith activity.
